A tumblelog of images, quotes, and thoughts from the day-to-day life of Jamis, Tarasine, Nathaniel, Kaitrin, Britton, and Phoebe!

Who are these people?

Jamis Buck (a.k.a. Dad) is a computer programmer for 37signals. He enjoys reading fantasy, science fiction, and history, and has recently discovered the joy of woodcarving.

Tarasine Buck (a.k.a. Mom) is a full-time homemaker and homeshcooling mom. She is also a licensed Kindermusik educator, and loves to knit, read, and learn new things.

Nathaniel is seven years old, and loves to read, build, draw, imagine, and play games on our Wii and at pbskids.org. He's a big fan of the Hardy Boys and the Boxcar Children.

Kaitrin (a.k.a. Katie) is five years old.. She's learning math (which she loves), and how to read. She also likes drawing, singing (whether or not she knows the words or the tune), the color pink, princesses, and pretending.

Britton is just a year and a half old, and loves climbing everywhere, cookies, shouting, getting tickled, and laughing. He also loves being read to.

Phoebe is brand new, just born in May. We aren't sure yet what she'll be like, but we'll let you know!

Diddutt!

When Britton accomplishes something all by himself, he says, “Diddutt!” Today I feel like saying that about this project I finished—a crocheted “blankie” for Phoebe. The idea was to have it ready for her when she was born, but, well … that didn’t quite happen.

It gave me something to concentrate on during the first couple of hours of labor, though. Then it became something to occupy me during the long, boring hours in the hospital after Jamis had taken the kids home to bed and Phoebe was sleeping. Then it was something to work on here at home when I had finished feeding Phoebe in the middle of the night but couldn’t go back to sleep myself. Now, it’s finally finished, and I LOVE it!

The girls’ room has a daisy theme, so I had been looking all over for some kind of daisy pattern for Phoebe’s blanket. I came across this fabulous daisy square by krochetkrystal, and I knew it was perfect! The edging took way too long, but I think it was worth it in the end. Diddutt!
